  Good luck!~~I think anything I'd consider food... ie: fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, etc will be strongly frowned... chocolate!

  But it is not so much the airlines you have to worry about, but the customs service upon your arrival....

  Shipping Cost~~I think shipping cost is the least of your worries. You need to deal with import taxes, customs brokers,... public transportation in South America is often quite good and inexpensive. Why not leave your gas guzzler at home?...

  Wire Transfer fees~~Usually the sending AND receiving banks will charge anywhere from US$25 to US$50 (sometimes more,... I'd study the fine print.

  Contact the banks in question and get the exact prices directly from the horses mouth!
